The 13th Post Graduate Education Fair 2010 (PGEF) which was held from 8th to 10th October 2010 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre was officially graced by YB Senator Dato’ Maznah Binti Mazlan, Deputy Minister of Human Resources. The 13th Post Graduate Education Fair 2010 was held for the 9th consecutive year was our 13th edition which offered universities and institutions a valuable platform to showcase courses and relevant information to working professionals and graduates. PGEF is served to connect the bridges and move audience one step further in their lives by providing professional advice on specific subject areas and future career path opportunities.
PGEF is Malaysia’s largest postgraduate education fair and has attracted more than half a million visitors since year 2002. This is also the first time the PGEF is held twice a year. As we believe that no matter what industry we are in, getting a master or doctorate degree inside and outside of our field will enhance our career substantially. It also broadens our horizons and enable us to see a different perspective. Thus, the PGEF is held to promote the Lifelong Learning culture among Malaysians.

With our concerted efforts in presenting the largest postgraduate education fair during the 3 days exhibition at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, our events attracted 98,269 working professionals and graduates during the 3 days event which comprises of (46%) male and (54%) female. Extensive publicity in respect of print media, social media, online media, outdoor banners, buntings, billboards, talk shows, advertorials, press releases were organised before, during and post event.

The event attracted about 60 institutions including Singapore, Taiwan, German, France, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States, Netherlands, Brunei, Thailand and of course, Malaysia participated in the 13th Post Graduate Education Fair. With the large number of international participants, the International Pavilion with upgraded shell scheme was formed to effectively help foreign institutions / universities to promote their courses and study experience. In a nutshell, the objective of PGEF is to provide an all-under-one-roof channel to the audience as talking to the right people is the most important aspect for decision making process when choosing an international or local Post Graduate program!

Talents play a key role in our nation’s economy and prosperity. With some RM 118 billion worth of projects set to kick off this year under the Economic Transformation Programme, the need for talents across the country is greater than ever. Besides delivering top Malaysian talents to employers, it is essential to also ensure jobseekers understand that continuing education is an important part of keeping our skills and knowledge level at par with the best in the world. This is important if we were to reach our goals to become a high income economy. AIC Exhibitions, as the organiser for this event, will continue our concerted efforts in creating a bigger platform and enhancing values to all the working professionals and graduates to achieve both their personal and career goals.

Giving Up Easily? Is it Worth it?

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." Thomas A. Edison. When we face a problem at times, we choose the easy road to run away or do not put enough determination to solve the problem. Imagine you were Thomas A Edison Today, will you be able to invent a light bulb? After failing to invent light bulb a 100, will you still be able to not give up and invent it. Just like what Thomas.A.Edison says: many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. We can see that Thomas.A.Edison did had courage and the never say die attitute to continue untill he succeed. One thing that is important that he learned from the Past. He learned how not to make a light bulb. Thats how learning never stops. Losers live in the past. Winners learn from the past and enjoy working in the present toward the future. Denis Waitley. Indeed we can see that Thomas.A.Edisson is considered a winner today he did not live in his past or stick to his past but get over it and learn from the past. He managed to overcome fears by learning everyday. Friends and people out there are we able to be like Thomas.A.Edisson? Learning from our past, never give up and never say die atttitude? Just like Thomas A Edisson said, we often give up the things when it is actually very close to success. So lets never stop learning today. We are what we think about.

Private sector, NGO contributions needed for scholarships

The Government still needs contributions from the private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in providing scholarships to help raise the quality of the country’s human resources, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Wednesday.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister said the scholarships and financial aid provided by the Government were not enough because of the huge number of people needing such aid.

“So the Government very much welcomes contributions from the private sector, NGOs and companies that can afford it to help the country produce Malaysians who are well-educated, especially in science and technology,” he said at the launch of the Cheras Education Foundation (CEF) and Utusan Malaysia scholarships here.

He said this initiative should be continued and the effort by the foundation and Utusan was good because not only the Malays but also the other communities would benefit.

“I hope that the selected students will make good use of this opportunity and after receiving their certificates and diplomas they can further their studies at a higher level,” he said.

Two-hundred needy students who scored at least five credits in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination last year will be selected for the scholarships.

They will receive RM5,000 a year to take up a one-year Foundation in Business and Information Technology course at the CEF College.

Foundation chairman Datuk Wira Syed Ali Alhabshee later told a news conference later that the foundation had allocated RM1mil for the scholarships.

The application forms can be obtained from the Utusan newspaper starting this month.

Since its establishment 10 years ago, the foundation has given away financial aid totalling RM7mil. -- Bernama
